Christos Garkinos: co-owner decades
As the co-founder of decades, Christos Garkinos has created a retail haven for celebrities, stylists and fashionistas, turning his Los Angeles-based luxury consignment boutique into an international shopping destination.
Together with partner Cameron Silver, the driving force behind vintage couture shop Decades, Garkinos established a cult following for decades, with sales of more than $5 million in ten years. To satisfy the ever-increasing demand, he created a 21st-century, multi-platform shopping experience through the original boutique in Los Angeles, nationwide pop-up tour, HauteLook partnership and the recent launch of ShopDecadesInc.com. As his clientele relies on his irreproducible talent for sourcing cutting-edge fashion while treasure hunting amidst the world’s best closets, Garkinos has expanded his fashion network to include more than 3000 consigners worldwide.
Known as the “Robin Hood of Fashion,” Garkinos is regularly tapped by top fashion editors and producers to lend his expertise to their audiences. The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times have repeatedly touted the unique decades business model and credited Garkinos’ encyclopedic fashion savvy and editing eye for the success of the brand. Featured as one of the most 15 fashionable men in the world by Japanese Vogue, he has been seen in the pages of Elle, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Los Angeles Magazine, Angeleno and Vogue and on television including NBC’s TODAY, ABCs 20/20, E!, the Home and Garden Network and Fine Living.
For decades, Garkinos draws on more than 20 years experience working in the consumer product and retail industries. Following his graduation from the University of Michigan with a degree in business, Garkinos worked in the exclusive brand management program at Clorox for three years, then opted to accept a position with the Walt Disney Company rather than attend Harvard Business School. Five years later, Garkinos ascended the corporate ladder as the head of marketing for Disney Stores in Europe. His experience led him to the role of vice president of marketing for US Virgin Megastores, later promoted to executive vice president.
